“Bokeh” play with pure CSS gradients
It never ceases to amaze me what people can do with pure CSS. My buddy James pointed me to these lovely CSS experiments made by Román Cortés. The newly released Firefox 3.6, with its much longed-for and refined CSS gradient syntax, opens up even more possibilities.

Exciting times for CSS3. As of version 3.5, Firefox offers support for the box-shadow and transition properties. With 3.6 we get CSS3 gradients and multiple backgrounds and 3.7 promises to follow with the transition family of properties.

Skinnable icons with CSS3 gradients and background masks
CSS gradients and background masks, first introduced by webkit, offer some really cool possibilities for skinnable, easily scaled graphics. Obviously this can be achieved with canvas as well, but I just find creating a few friendly lines of CSS and knocking up an SVG mask graphic in Illustrator so much easier.
